5. The removal to "The Eyrie" necessitated &
number of alterations in the scheme as originally set
out, principally in the matter of suit ble buildings,
involving an increase of $22,650 in the estimated
expenditure for the current year and a total increase
on the scheme of $92,900.- The matter was put before
the Finance Committee on 2nd August and the additions 1
expenditure was unanimously agreed to and supplementary supply of $91,440 covering the total estimated expenditure for the current year under the revised scheme was voted. A copy of the memorandum to the
Finance Committee is enclosed.

6. I enclose also copy of a letter from
His Majesty's Consul-eneral at Canton to the inister at Peking reporting that the Canton Covernment has
entered into a contract for the erection of forty-eight
wireless stations in Kwangtung, at a cost of $650,000.-
77. It is imperative in view of the rapid development of Wireless in China and neighbouring countries that this Colony should be in a position to cope
with the constantly increasing traffic and I request your covering approval of the expenditure lready incurred, and authority to proceed with the scheme. In view of the urgency of the matter I shall be glad to have your decision by telegraph.
